The Book of Change
The I Ching (易经, Yì Jīng), often translated as The Book of Changes, is one of the oldest and most influential texts in Chinese history. Dating back over 3,000 years, it is both a philosophical classic and a divination system. The I Ching presents 64 hexagrams—six-line figures made of broken and unbroken lines—each representing a situation, process, or principle of change.
Traditionally, it is used as a guide for decision-making, offering wisdom about how to act in harmony with the natural flow of life. Beyond fortune-telling, it is a deep work of philosophy that explores the constant interplay of yin (receptive) and yang (creative) forces, reminding us that change is the fundamental pattern of the universe.
